Authorized Entrant and Stand By Person (AESP)
The Authorized Entrant and Stand By Person (AESP) course is designed to provide essential knowledge and practical guidance for personnel involved in confined space operations. This course covers the roles, responsibilities, and safety requirements for both Authorized Entrants and Standby Persons to ensure safe entry, work, and emergency response in confined spaces.
Participants will learn about confined space hazards such as oxygen deficiency, toxic gases, flammable atmospheres, and physical risks. The course emphasizes permit-to-work systems, atmospheric testing, communication procedures, emergency preparedness, and rescue coordination. Through practical examples, participants will understand how to comply with regulatory requirements and apply safe work practices during confined space activities.
Course Objective
The objective of this course is to ensure participants are competent and prepared to perform their duties safely during confined space operations. By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
Understand the legal requirements and responsibilities of Authorized Entrants and Standby Persons under applicable OSH regulations.
Identify hazards associated with confined spaces and assess potential risks before entry.
Apply proper confined space entry procedures, including permit-to-work requirements.
Use gas detection and monitoring equipment correctly to ensure atmospheric safety.
Maintain effective communication between entrant and standby personnel during entry operations.
Recognize early warning signs of hazardous conditions and initiate appropriate control measures.
Implement emergency response procedures, including evacuation and rescue coordination.
Comply with safety standards to prevent confined space incidents and fatalities.
