Plant and Machinery Inspection

The Plant and Machinery Inspection course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to conduct systematic inspections of plant, equipment, and machinery used in construction and industrial workplaces. The course focuses on identifying mechanical defects, unsafe conditions, and non-compliance issues that may pose risks to workers and operations.

Participants will learn inspection principles, statutory requirements, preventive maintenance concepts, and documentation procedures. The course also covers common hazards associated with heavy machinery, lifting equipment, pressure systems, and powered tools. Emphasis is placed on ensuring equipment integrity, operational safety, and compliance with Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) regulations.

Course Objective

The objective of this course is to equip participants with the competency to carry out effective plant and machinery inspections to ensure workplace safety and regulatory compliance. By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand legal requirements and standards related to plant and machinery inspection.

  • Identify common mechanical, structural, electrical, and operational hazards.

  • Conduct pre-use, routine, and periodic inspections of plant and machinery.

  • Interpret inspection checklists, manufacturer guidelines, and safety specifications.

  • Recommend corrective and preventive actions for identified defects.

  • Maintain proper inspection records and documentation.

  • Support preventive maintenance programs and equipment safety management systems.

  • Contribute to accident prevention through proactive equipment monitoring.
